Save the Date – SIT 2023: Romeo and Juliet

We’re excited to announce that 2023’s Shakespeare in Ten production will be the one and only Romeo and Juliet. Join us in July and help us tell this timeless story of tension, death, and the incredible force of love. More information on the show and a sign-up form are in the works, but for now we wanted to get the timing out there so that you can mark your calendars!

July 17-28
Performance July 29
Seattle Center’s Center Theater

We will also be trying a slightly new format to the Shakes in Ten process this year after hearing the suggestion from several veteran cast members. We will be holding auditions and casting the show sometime in the first week of July. No additional rehearsals will take place between then and our official start date of July 17, but the cast and crew will have that period of a couple weeks to learn lines and do some initial design work on their own time. Everything else will proceed as normal with weekday evening rehearsals between July 17 and the performance on July 29.

We’re hopeful that this adjustment will allow us to retain the usual fast-paced thrill of SIT while allowing for a bit more sanity and peace of mind for participants! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or thoughts you’d like to share on this. Again, we’re still working out the details – keep an eye out for more information as we get closer to the date.

We will be approaching our rehearsal process and performance with appropriate caution with regards to COVID-19.

FOR PERFORMERS AND TECHS/DESIGNERS: we will require proof of full vaccination before the start of SIT 2023. A negative test taken the weekend before SIT begins (July 15-16) will also be required. We will have additional guidelines to cover auditions in early July once we have established further details for that process. During our second week of rehearsal, when we will be indoors at our performance venue (the Center Theater), masks will be required unless you are onstage rehearsing. Masks will not be required while we are rehearsing outdoors during the first week, but they are certainly welcome.

FOR AUDIENCE MEMBERS: at our performance, all audience members will be required to show proof of vaccination before entering the theater, and will be required to wear masks throughout the show.

Thank you as always for being a friend to Somniterum – we hope to see you in July!
